Back to back weddings for us this past weekend and both brides were past nursing school buddies. How weird is that?!? Sarah and I met back in 2013 in nursing school. She sat in the row in front of me and we would cry a little about how we were sure we failed every single test/exam/quiz/class (even though she always ended up passing with flying colors!). 😉 We reconnected at her engagement session last year, and the rest is history!
Every wedding makes me sentimental, but Sarah + Kenny’s wedding tugged at a specific set of my heartstrings in a different way.
Sarah’s mom passed away several years ago and if you’ve been around here for any length of time you know that my mom passed 3 years ago. My heart hurt for Sarah going through this day without her mom by her side because I’ve been in her shoes. Sarah had so many beautiful tributes to her Mom throughout the day. She carried a picture of her mom in her bouquet with her, stopped by her Mom’s grave to leave a rose on her way to her portraits, and her maid of honor gave a beautiful toast to her mom that guaranteed there wasn’t a dry eye in the whole room.
The beauty of it all was seeing all of the women – aunts, girlfriends, godmothers – who had stepped in to fill that gap in Sarah’s life. Sarah and Kenny we’re surrounded by an abundance of love from so their family and friends throughout their whole day.
Kenny + Sarah, I hope you’re enjoying your first week as Mr. + Mrs on your honeymoon!! Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!!
